Weekend fun

We had one of those weekends that plans got cancelled at the last minute and new ones were made. Quickly. Saturdays hubby usually works but the job got canceled. I have been wanting to go to a Dooney and Bourke store for ages. The nearest one is (about) a hour away and I don't always have that much time in the day to go. Hubby was nice enough to spend the morning shopping with me. How lucky was I to marry a man who likes to shop??? How cute is that shopping bag?? It looks like a gift bag! I've been wanting a red bag for ages. As soon as I saw that one, I knew it was mine. :) BTW there are two more purses in that shopping bag. I didn't have time to take pictures of them.

On the way home we stopped at a fabulous cupcake shop. I heard so much about this place but haven't had any from there yet. I keep comparing every cupcake shop to Cupcake Charlie's. They seriously have the best ones! Anywhoo, these were tasty. Best two flavored? Apple pie and maple bacon. I know. Bacon on cupcakes??? I felt the same way until I tried it. Delish!!

Sunday we spent the day on the lake with our friends riding on our wave runners. My son begged all week to go on it. He couldn't wait. Until he got on it. He kept asking to go back to the "place we got on the wave runner at". I think his sensory issues were taking over. Poor thing! We are hoping this weekend he will do better.
(It took me all day to do this post on my phone. I must learn to type faster on this thing. Ha!)
Have a great Tuesday!

Aloha Friday

It's Friday and that can only mean one thing. It's time again for Aloha Friday. This weeks question is:

Which Dallas show do you prefer? Old school Dallas or new TNT Dallas? My teen years were in the 80's and we based our Friday nights around the old Dallas. There was something about tuning in every Friday night to see what the Ewing's were up to on Southfork ranch. That show made me want to move to Dallas or at least own a ranch. In high school I did join the FFA because of that show. Umm... I'll save that for another time. I'm always very skeptical when Hollywood tries to turn a classic into a new hip show. Imagine my surprise when I tuned in the first night and have been watching every Wednesday night since. Some might say I'm basing my Wednesday nights around this show and might not be answering my phone. Or twittering or facebooking my two best friends during the show. Lies. All lies. ;)

Don't forget to head over to Island's Life and answer her question this week.......

Wordless Wednesday

This is what he wants to be for Halloween. Captain Batman. Ha! How in the world do I find a pattern for that one.

Our latest addition.....

Looks like we have a new member of our Burg family. After minutes weeks of looking Hubby bought a wave runner. I swear last week we were looking at vacation homes and the week before that we were looking at new cars. Saturday he picked it up and I haven't seen him since. Just kidding. He's spent most of the weekend polishing it in the driveway and the other half spent taking a boat test online. BTW that boat test is long and hard! I have to take my test sometime this week if I want to drive the wave runner this weekend. I'm not looking forward to taking it. Ugh. It's amazing what you have to do to drive a boat, wave runner or car but you only have to pee on a stick to become a parent. Kind of sad when you think about it.

Anywhoo. This past weekend I found a major break in my family research. I actually found a family member online! I think she is my 3rd cousin on my great grand mother's side. This is the side of the family that no one seemed to know much about. I didn't think I would ever find anyone on that side. I'm so excited!!!! Hopefully she won't be to frightened when she hears more about my Grandmother's side of the family. The more research I do on my grandmother the more I think she must of been very questionable. I see now why my Mom and her mother did what they could to keep me away from her. It's been an interesting journey to say the least. I hoping to visit the area where most of my family is from sometime this summer or in the fall. It's a bit of a hike from where I live so I have to make it on a day when I have a lot of time. Finding time in this family is ...well impossible. HA!

Have a great Monday......

Wordless Wednesday

What difference from last year! Due to Bubby's sensory issues he would not allow anyone to paint his face. At our friends party he begged to have face painting. Progress!

Tuesday morning.....

I finally got a chance to pop in for a quick update. My nieces went home yesterday afternoon. My oldest niece was texting me when I was on the way to the dentist office. She said they were waiting to leave for the airport and were killing time. My oldest daughter was texting her since I was driving. I love the fact she can now text me. It makes me feel more connected to her. When did she get old enough to text? I texted her again when I got home to wish them good luck on their travels. She just kept texting until they got on the plane. She then texted when when they got home. Gotta love modern technology. I'm hoping maybe next time we can fly out to see them. I really enjoyed my visit with the girls this time.

This morning I have to take the dog to the vet to get his stitches out. That should be a fun morning. HA! I'm not sure why I'm evening taking him. I believe most of them are out anyway. As soon as the cone came off he couldn't stop licking it.

Later today Bubby has an O/T appt. I'm not looking forward to it. She's a nice lady but I don't think she is the right personality for him. I think he needs a slightly more aggressive thereapist. I don't mean a person who would yell at him but someone who doesn't allow him to get away with things. He really hasn't learned much from her yet. He still can't right his name. We are still looking into Kindergarten options for next year.

Last night had another issue with Foo. I can't wait until she's an adult and outgrows this. Or at least becomes less selfish. A mom can dream, right?

Off to start this fun filled day. HA!

DMV....again

I'm off to spend my day at the DMV. Oh please don't be envious of my fun filled summer. HA! Today my youngest daughter takes her drivers test. She is a bundle of nerves. I'm not doing much better to be honest with you. I'm not sure how she is going to handle the whole driving thing. I just pray she listens to us and follows the rules. In our state parents can suspend their children's license. I would hate to do that but I will if rules are not followed. I really hope this is a good thing for her. The joys of teenagers.

Have a Happy Thursday.........

Happy Birthday America......

I love the 4th of July! I actually love any holiday with flags. Even as a kid I have always had an obsession with the American flag. Don't ask. HA! Please take the timeout today and thank a soldier. I have the utmost respect for the military. I come from along line of military. Today isn't about whether or not you believe in the war or how much its costing us. It's about the men and woman who sacrifice everything so we can live in peace. Enjoy your day today. Be safe if you are attending any firework shows and please be careful if you are setting any fireworks off yourself. I really don't recommend that.

The Burgs will be enjoying the day with family and hopefully some friends later......

Just when you think......

A few months ago we took my son to be tested/registered for kindergarten. They didn't want him to attend this year due to some of his issues. We fought for him to attend. After all its the right of every kid to attend school because if we didn't send him you can bet your butt the school would be on our case. He has Sensory Processing Disorder. Some days it is tough to deal with him. I do want to clarify one thing. The school didn't want him to attend not because of his issues but because they didn't want to take the time out to teach him. They wanted me to send him to a pre school instead. Huge difference. Huge. That's why I fought so hard so he could attend. Over the last few weeks I have watched him struggle with writing, struggle with reading flashcards. Around Christmas time we thought maybe he was dyslexia. We asked the intermediate unit who tested him for other stuff. Their response? He's too young to test for that and they don't start testing until the kids are 7. That would be 3 years wasted. You would think they would test early just to rule it out. Whatever happened to "no child left behind"? UGH. Anywoo yesterday Bubby had an O/T appt(can you believe she called me up at 1:15 to see if she could meet with him at 2:15) and she was trying to get him to write the letters after she did. The same things we have tried with him and it doesn't work. She then tried to make the letter a little at a time and then he would repeat it. He was able to do it but still can't make the letter on his own. We were talking about this and we think his brain isn't telling his hand how to do it. I have said all along that I don't think he won't do it but he can't do it. We are now back at square one. I'm not sure what to do now. I need to find a place that can test him for this first. Hopefully after I get some sort of diagnoses we can figure out what to do. If I home school him I could forfeit his services thru the school. They already told me that I would loose the services if I sent him to a private school. The other option is to not send him to school and the county would continue to provide services for him but I would loose his speech services. The county doesn't think he needs it but the school says yes he does. I have to proceed carefully so he doesn't loose any services and figure out the best plan for him. I could really use some advice. If anyone has been thru this before or knows someone who has please comment.

I will be spending the rest of the day looking up laws of our state and different programs...

Sunday night

After a busy weekend, I do believe I am ready for bed. We spent the day with my nieces Firefly and LadyBug at a fair. We also had my Mother and Father in law with us. I'm not sure who was more tired the adults or the kids. HA! Hoping to get a chance to write more tomorrow. After walking around in 100 degrees we are all beat tonight.

Night.......
