Winter snow and winter Vera sales

I'm just popping in for a bit. Sorry I haven't been on in a few days. My sister and law and nieces flew home yesterday and we have been trying to catch up on things. We got another snow storm today and of course had to go out and play in it. :) We had some snow on Christmas Eve but it was gone by Christmas morning. Another storm came in a day later but didn't produce much. This storm only dumped a few inches. Just enough to make everything look pretty against the Christmas lights and a 5 year old boy happy. Very happy.

Vera Bradley is having an online sale. 40 percent off certain retired winter fabrics and bags and free shipping on orders more than 75.00. I thought I would pass that along in case their was something Santa didn't leave under your tree. ;)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas with their family........

Wordless Wednesday~Snowman sort of

Look who finally got some snow! Last Wednesday night we finally got a few inches of snow. My 4yr old was so excited. He couldn't wait to make a snowman. Unfortunately it was not the kind of snow to make a snowman. It was just too powdery. Major disappointment. He lucked out because on Friday night it snowed some more. It was the right kind of snow to make snowmen with but it was barely two inches. We were cracking up because as we were rolling the snow it was taking it completely off the grass. Notice the bare spots in the background? HA! I realize it is probably the most pathetic snowman you have ever seen. But,hey it made a 4 year old boy so happy for a few hours. The snow had melted by dinner time. That was a whole other meltdown in the Burg house.

Updates....

We finally got a little of the white stuff yesterday and last night. It wasn't enough to make a snowman but it didn't cause any school cancellations or delays. My kind of snow. I just love snow on the ground. It just makes everything brighter. I can't stand the dark early thing at nighttime. Too depressing.

Hubby finally went to the doctor yesterday for the cough he had since last week. It turns out the poor guy has walking pneumonia. Ugh. It doesn't surprise me that much. The type of cancer he had effects his immune system. We always have to watch when he gets sick or gets an infection. If being sick wasn't bad enough, on Sunday he knocked a crown off one of his teeth while he was eating. (Ever since his chemo he has had nothing but problems with his teeth.) Monday when he went to the dentist they told him they have to extracted the whole tooth out. So tomorrow guess where he is going? It's really not his week. Poor guy!

We heard back from the insurance company. They will give us enough money to replace all of the kitchen cabinets. I wasn't expecting that. In between illnesses and teeth falling out we have been looking at kitchen cabinets. HA! I can't wait to get my kitchen back together. I kind of miss my dishwasher. OK. I really miss my dishwasher. HA! I've been waiting for the water and electric bill to come in the mail. I'm curious if we save a lot more money by not using the dishwasher. We'll see.

Happy Thursday.........

I'm dreaming of a white Halloween......

What, you've never dreamed of the white stuff under your orange pumpkins? Never thought how fun would it be to go on a wagon ride in the snow? Never thought of playing let's see who can trip over the pumpkin that's hidden in the snow? Ever wonder how in the world are you going to fit a snowsuit under a costume? Or saying to the kids no running down the street because you might slip on the black ice? Me neither! Nor do I ever want to think about this stuff again. Mother nature, please keep the white stuff to yourself at least until Thanksgiving. I love watching the high school Turkey day games in the snow.

Believe or not but they are were sand cherry trees. I'm not expecting them to come back in the spring. Bummer. This storm really did a number on things. Some of our neighbors lost their electric yesterday and were told they won't have it back on until TUESDAY! Not acceptable.

Bummed.....sort of

We have had so many plans today. First we were going to do the movies. Followed by trick or treating. Then a costume dance/contest. Did I mention everything takes place at an outdoor mall??? Or the fact we are getting snow today? It actually started snowing 2 hours ago. It's not sticking to the ground. Yet. I am totally bummed. Bubby was looking so forward to the Halloween fun. I'm watching the snow fall and fight the urge to play Christmas music. Guess this means playing in the snow later. Best part.

Let it snow.........

Saturday we spent most of the day waiting for our dusting big snow storm to come. Bubby and I passed the time by decorating the tree in the living room. We drove Princess to work. I was so excited for him to see the snow. Honestly the day went really slow waiting for the snow. It finally started coming down just before we had to take Foo-Foo to her friend's house. The smile on the little dude's face was priceless.

He and Foo-Foo just ran in the yard as the snow fell down. The ground was covered as Bubby was napping. I felt bad by the time he woke up it was too dark to play in the snow. We did take a walk around our hood. There is something about walking in the snow at night. Love it!

* Can you tell how much he loves his big sister?

Love,Thursday

Love is discovering the snow. Last year Little Guy was too little to play in the snow. Yea it was cold and interesting. He just didn't get it. This year I can't get him out of it. I took ten pictures and he was too busy to look at the camera. I can only imagine next year when he sees the snow.

More snow?

The kids went off to school on Tuesday with hopes we would get snow that day. The snow and ice came. CLOSING school on Wednesday. Did I mention they already had Thursday and Friday off for in service days? My kids have had a five day weekend.  It has been a long four days already. I heard last night we could have a nor'easter sometime next week. WTHeck? These kids will go nuts. O.k. I will go nuts. Send good vibes our way. NO SNOW!

Love,Thursday

Love is playing in the snow with your big sister. Love is playing in the snow with your baby brother who is 11 years younger then you. I often worry about the age difference between our little guy and the teenagers. Will he get to know them? Will they still want to spend time with him when they are grown? But on this day, I didn't think of any of that. I just sat and watched a sister trying to teach her brother how to make a snowball. I hope they have more snow days in the future.

I am going back to bed

Have you ever had one of those mornings, where you wish the alarm never went off? You know the ones. It's too warm in bed. or. It's too cold outside. That's how it started off. That was the highlight of the day. Friday morning we were hit with a snow/ice storm. The weather wasn't sure if it just wanted to snow or just give ice. The girls school sent everyone home by noon. No biggie. Sunday morning we were hit with more freezing rain. The sun did come out and warmed everything up. Big mistake. Whatever melts must refreeze at night. Which brings me to my lovely morning. We wake up today to -5 degrees. I can see you thinking, why get out of bed? The morning was going well until I went outside to pre-start the car. All I had to do was take my youngest daughter to the bus stop. That is it. I start the car and try to shut the door. The door will not shut. I am there shutting that door and watching it fly back open. Several times. I decided to leave the car running with the door sort of closed.  I thought maybe if the car heats up enough the door will shut. I call hubby to see if he has any ideas. Nope. I already tried everything he suggested. His big advise,"just take the big SUV today". The big SUV we never cleaned off. The one we never even shoveled around. Yea right.  Ten minutes later daughter and I get in the car and the door will not shut. I am trying everything I can think of. It just would not shut.  I tell her she has to get the bus at the next bus stop. I spent the next five minutes trying to decide how to prop the door closed. I was terrified my car battery would go dead. I did get it to close. At some point I realized I have to go out today. I had to finish my Christmas shopping. The biggest problem of the day. The only ice scraper we seem to own is in my xuv. Oh Yea!!!! I can't drive the tank without cleaning off that windshield. Can you see my dilemma? If I open that car door,it might not close again. If I don't get that ice scraper, I can't clean the tank's windshield off. Either way I am not going anywhere. I did what any intelligent person would do. I opened the hatch on my XUV and climbed through the car to the drivers seat and got the ice scraper. I climbed back out. I was so proud of myself. I closed the hatch and watched the drivers door fly open. I swear all the color left my face. I worked on the door for a little bit and it closed. I waited for the baby to wake up. I got him dressed . I went out to start the SUV. I carefully stepped on the ice and made my way to the drivers door. The door was frozen shut. I am not kidding. I might have said a couple of not so nice words. O.K. I said a lot. I went over to the passengers door and climbed in that way. If you ever need someone who can climb thru the car in 1.5 seconds, I'm you're gal. Almost 40 minutes later I FINALLY get all of the ice off the window(but still can't open my car door) and we are on our way. I think my cars just didn't want to get up today either. One decided to not close it's doors and the other one decided to not open theirs.

I was finally able to open that car door when I got to the place that sells everything. Thank Goodness. Can you imagine me climbing out of my car thru the tailgate saying Hiddy Ho. You might be a redneck.....
