aloha friday

It's time again for Aloha Friday. This weeks question is:

Do you look forward to or dread when the kids are off for the summer? When my girls were younger I loved when they had off for the summer. It meant no running anyone to practices or school events. Time to just enjoy each other and have fun. We didn't have to do much. Some days we would have our good friends over and just swim. That's it. Nothing fancy. Nothing expensive. Just spend the day in our backyard cooking on the grill and swimming. Now that my girls are older. I.Dread.It. The last three summers I have had working teens but no teen drivers. Which means I spent more time in my car than home. I never realized how hard it was to coordinate every ones schedule. This year I have 2 drivers and my youngest daughter goes for her drivers test in a few weeks. Now  most days are spent listening to them fight with one another or us. The joys of teenage girls. HA! I can't understand why they can't coexist with one another for more than 5 minutes. It could either be a long or interesting summer. HA!

Don't forget to go over to an Island's life and answer her question.

When I was teaching, I loved the summer time. With the two boys and no real plans it can be daunting at times, but I cherish these moments together.

Since my kids are younger, I love the summertime of no morning rush getting ready for school. I can see the dread when they get older with the same sort of scenario you're experiencing, though! :)

My little one is not old enough for school yet so we do things all year round :)

I love the summer vacation. I get to spend time with my nieces, nephews, god kids and kids during most of the summer, and we always have a blast.

Oh dear, from everything I've been hearing about teen years, I'm dreading it.

Right now I don't dream summer months...except for the heat, but I hope I wont come to dread it as the kids get older.

Happy weekend.
ps. right now we are doing what you did. just hanging out in the back yard.

I loved it when my kids were on holiday from school. LOVED it. We made fabulous memories doing everything under the sun including a lot of camping. Now I like it best when the grands are on school holiday. ;D
