It's Friday so it can only mean one thing. It's time for an Island life's Aloha Friday. My question to you is this:
Is Valentine's day a big deal in your house? We decided when we had our first daughter that we would celebrate as a family instead of a couple. My parents had done the same for my brother and I when we were growing up. I usually cook a dinner and we exchange small gifts. I honestly don't like the holiday much. That whole "if you don't have someone special in your life you're a loser kind of thing". I have/had many single friends who used to cry on this holiday. It broke my heart. I never wanted my girls to feel like they have to have a boyfriend in their lives to feel special. And that's why we celebrate as a family. The older they get it's getting harder to do that. 2 out of 3 of my daughters have boyfriends. HA!
Head over to Island's life and answer her question too.....

No. Valentines day is just another day for me, but for the kids, they love the candy love :)
Aloha.
We make it a bigger deal for the kids with cute Valentine stuffed animals and some candy - and order dinner in as a special treat. The hubby and I exchange schmoopy cards and small gifts - though he outdid himself this year, (even though we both agree it's pretty much a hyped up Hallmark holiday) so I'll be keeping him around. ;)
What's Your Poison?
It's not a big deal in our home. We usually get small gifts for the girls and that's about it.
