Sunday Morning Visitors

This past Sunday we had some visitors before we went to Church. Hubby had to take Foo to work and I was rushing around the house getting Bubby ready when I happened to see them.

I thought I saw something walking across my yard but wasn't sure. They were the cutest things. I'm always surprised when I see wildlife in our front yard. We don't live in the city but we also don't live in the woods. The pair of love birds made a certain 3 year old's day. He couldn't get enough of them. Thank goodness my bird dogs didn't see them. HAHAHA!

April Fools Day......Not

I am going to jump right in here and say this. I hate April Fools Day. I do. There I said it. I don't like jokes/pranks played on me. Nor do I do them to others. Honestly I don't like Halloween either. Even as a kid I never liked either holiday. These two holidays are Hubby's favorite. 7 years ago sealed it for me. We were told Hubby most likely had cancer. He did. Can you imagine Mr.Prankster trying to tell me the doctors thought he had cancer on April Fools day? I didn't believe him at first. Two years of chemo and medicines has made him cancer free since that day. Praise the lord! Imagine my surprise when we woke up to snow on the ground. I guess even Mother Nature has a sense of humor.

So,I'm kind of wondering....Does anyone else like this day?

Pity Party Table for One..........

A couple of weeks ago I decided to finish/start up my family trees. I started my maternal grandmothers side about 16 years ago and put it away until a few weeks ago. When my grandmother was alive she had given me a lot of names and dates. I wish I would have finished it when she was still alive. It was so important to her to have a completed family tree. I never realized how much info she knew. I've hit a wall with getting past my grand grandfather's parents and can't even find my grand grandmother's parents. As if doing one family tree isn't hard enough,I've added two more. I have wanted to do my bio father's Mom and Dad's side since I was in school. We always had those stupid family tree projects and I never had any info on his side of the family. So a few weeks ago I took out my trusty notebook that had nuggets of info I managed to collect of both families and went to work. When I started out on this journey I never gave a thought to the emotion that would hit me as I searched for my past. I knew I would get misty eyed for the family that I remembered but never expected to get emotional over the ones I never met or that died when I was a baby. As I was uncovering my father's side I couldn't help but wonder if any of them ever thought about me. Did they even know I existed? Some of them are just names on a piece of paper. I have no photographs of. No memories. I felt sad for my father when I realized how few siblings he has left and felt even sadder when he told me his mom hated his father's side of the family. He only ever saw his grandparents a few times his whole life. Kind of like my life. Sad. Yesterday I started working on the tree for the first time in 3 days when my Mom called. My aunt had passed away from cancer that morning. She was my Grandmother's sister. I lost it! I felt like I was losing my Grandmother all over again. I know people don't live forever but she was one of two sisters left in my grandmothers family. 7 siblings  and only 2 left. Until yesterday. I really don't know what I hope to find. I just know I'm doing this for my Grandmother.

I love you Nan! I'm so sorry I didn't finish this when you were still alive to enjoy it with me.

Mean girls

I am always amazed how mean and catty teenage girls can be. Who am I kidding? I know adults who fit still fit that description. My youngest daughter Foo Foo(15) has had Regina making her life miserable since November. Anyway they can make her cry or get upset, they do. She is by no means an angel. We have had a awful year and a half with her. ( I'll blog more on that when I get a chance. It's going to be a really long post.) It started with her and a good friend having a disagreement. Nothing major. Until Regina got involved. Why I have no idea. The good friend joined forces with a couple of other girls. They honestly go out of their way to make not only Foo's life horrible but now Tornado's. Ugh.  Tornado(16) decided to be a great big sister and stand up for Foo and now they have other girls not talking to her. Today the mean girls verbally went after Foo and Tornado had enough of the crap and reported it to the guidance counseler. They want Foo to make a written statement about what happened. She doesn't want to because she is afraid of what the girls will do next. I can't say I blame her. I don't want to see the mean girls in trouble. I just want it to stop. The thing that is so frustrating is a month ago a boy from the high school committed suicide because he was bullied. WTHeck are these girls thinking????? Did I mention that the good friend's parents are the ones who camp with us?? Sigh. Advice? Anyone?

Mindless Mondays

We didn't have an exciting Monday here. Not that we ever do. Honestly Mondays are the worst day of the week for us. Some odd reason teenagers don't like getting up early on a Monday. HAHA! Bubby and I had company today. My youngest daughter(15) was home sick with allergies. I thought about sending her to school but you know what happens once you take allergy medicine. You pass out. I figured she was better off at home sleeping than in school drooling on her desk and the teacher stopping class so everyone could watch her sleep. Not that  that has ever happened to me. ;)

The little guy and I went grocery shopping. That is always an experience! Shopping and being 3 years old do not go together. He's in a new phase where he just says whatever is on his mind. Including asking why a lady has hot pink hair. I think I have tried every distraction I can think of to get his mind off why someone has no teeth, hair, chains hanging off their wallets, and big bellies. If anyone has anymore ideas, please send them my way. I pretty much have to avoid going to the store that sells everything. You never know who/what you will see there. HAHA!

After g.shopping we went to Dunkin Donuts and got our free coffee. Did everyone get that in their newspaper 2 weeks ago? A free Iced Coffee drink on Mondays for several weeks. I love it!!!!! I am a total coffee drink freak. I'm not much of a soda drinker but coffee.....YUM!

Sharing

I realize I haven't written in a while. I have been struggling with things since I started this blog. How much do you share or not share? Being a mom to 3 teenager girls, I am aware of what happens when you share too much. After a lot of soul searching have decided that holding back is not who I am. So like it or not I am going to be sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. If you are parents of teenagers you know exactly what I am talking about! Look out world..........I'm back!

Tuesday

Yesterday we went into Pigeon Forge. I have to be honest. It was one of the worst towns I have ever been to. I was expecting it to be like Gatlinburg. It was nothing like it. It was shore town meets mountain town. I didn't take too many pictures here. I really hope Nashville isn't like this. I will be so disappointed. They do have a really cool Titanic museum. We tried to go into it but the wait was too long. We did eat at the Dixie Stampede. Oh my Gosh!  We had a pre show before dinner. You are in one big room with drinks and listen to a trio play. They were really good. It was blue grass/country Tenn music. Loved it! When they were done we moved to the arena. The food was fabulous! Your meal consisted of creamy veggie soup, cheesy biscuit, a whole little chicken, a piece of pork loin, half a potato, corn on the cob and apple turnover for dessert. I never ate so much before in my life. LOL. There was a catch for dinner. NO SILVERWARE! You eat with your hands. The weirdest thing ever. The show was fabulous. Tornado and S were asked to be a part of the show. They won their horse foot race. It was so funny to see those two riding a horse on a stick. The Dixie Stampede is a very pricey place to eat but worth every penny. The only thing I was disappointed with is I didn't get to meet Dolly. LOL.
